First things first: What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the early postpartum period. Unlike a midwife, a doula does not provide medical care but focuses on supporting the birthing person and their family in a non-medical capacity.

As your Doula I dedicate to providing you personalized care and creating a supportive environment tailored to your unique needs and preferences. I focus on nurturing and empowering you throughout your birth journey, ensuring you feel informed and supported every step of the way.

What can my Doula do for me?

During Pregnancy:

  • Emotional Support: Offering encouragement and a listening ear.

  • Education: Providing information on pregnancy, childbirth, and infant care.

Labor and Birth:

  • Physical Support: Assisting with comfort measures such as breathing techniques, massage, and positioning.

  • Advocacy: Helping to communicate the birthing person’s preferences and wishes with the medical team.

  • Continuous Presence: Staying with the birthing person throughout labor to offer consistent support.

Postpartum:

  • Recovery Support: Helping with physical and emotional recovery after birth.

  • Breastfeeding Assistance: Offering guidance and support for breastfeeding.

  • Household Assistance: Sometimes providing light help around the home and support in adjusting to new parenthood.

Did you know?

Research shows that having a doula can lead to a more positive birth experience, including shorter labor, reduced need for pain medication, and lower rates of cesarean sections. Doulas also help reduce anxiety and can provide valuable support that complements the care provided by your medical professional.
